Plants of the Month

Beginning September of 2007 the Town of South Padre Island  established the adoption of a Native Plant of the Month.  South Padre Island recognizes the importance of native habitat to our environment and the many species of birds and butterflies that migrate through this area. The many species of birds and butterflies that migrate though the area are a major attraction for eco-tourists who help to support the Island’s economy. The Town of South Padre Island Board of Aldermen has adopted a ‘Native Plant of the Month’ program to emphasize the importance of habitat and provide information about native plants to residents and visitors.
