Padre Boulevard Median
Project 2006... |
|
The
Padre Boulevard
Improvement Project is one of the most important and
beneficial projects in the history of the South Padre Island
community. This project will provide the greatest
improvements in traffic and pedestrian safety and movement,
beautification, and storm water drainage on Padre Boulevard
since its original paving. The first phase of the Padre
Boulevard Improvement Project is the placement of important
physical elements in the center of the boulevard where a
wide unlimited two-way left turn lane now exists.
Improvements to be placed in this zone will include
carefully crafted landscaped medians with protected traffic
turning lanes for motorist’s safety, professional designed
pedestrian crossings with advance lighting as well as
decorative lighting fixtures throughout the project area.
The first placement of these improvements will begin as
early as November and will occur in the area from
intersection of the Frontage Road and Park Road 100 to just
north of Dolphin Street.
