New Banners
Beautify Padre Boulevard |
Public
Works employees are busy hanging street banners along
Padre Boulevard. The bright and colorful banners were a
partnership project funded by the SPI Chamber of
Commerce and the Town of South Padre Islands Convention
and Visitors Bureau and, installed by the Town’s Public
Works Department.
|
|
Hurricane Ivan
Effects SPI Beaches |
|
Due to the high tides created by
Hurricane Ivan, precautions have been taken on the beach
and Gulf Boulevard. Trash receptacles have been removed
from the beach along with matting on beach accesses.
Beaches
Closed - Until further notice all Town beaches have
been closed.
Swells of 7 to 10 feet can be
expected by Wednesday afternoon. These swells in
conjunction with high tides 2 feet above sea level late
this afternoon and again Wednesday morning may result in
beach flooding up to the dunes today and Wednesday.
We are strongly encouraging people
to stay out of the water, because of the strong undertow
and high risk of rip currents.
