City Manager

The
City Manager's office oversees and manages the administrative
operations of the Town and provides administrative support
to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen in the establishment
of policy. The primary goals of this office are to ensure
the delivery of services to the community, manage the
daily operation of the Town's departments and enforce
the policies and ordinances adopted by the Town. This
office also helps in the establishment of goals and
objectives for the Town and the implementation thereof.
The City Manager's office is directly responsible for
the daily operations of human resources, municipal court,
city secretary and administrative activities. The City
Manager's office also oversees the operations of Fire,
Police, Public Works, and Finance.

Fire Chief

The
primary goals of the Fire Department are to provide
24hours/7days fire prevention and fire protection services
for citizens; respond to emergency medical calls; maintain
the highest standard of honesty and integrity; enhance
the working relationship with citizens; improve quality
of life for citizens; and promote professionalism of
fire department personnel.
The
primary goal of the Fire Department's Emergency Management
Division is to provide services to the community in
the event of emergency disasters.

City Secretary

The
City Secretary attends each meeting of the governing
body of the Town and keeps the minutes of the elected
official's proceedings. The City Secretary conducts
municipal elections, issues custom garment permits and
renewals and TABC permit renewals, serves as administrative
records keeper and records management officer, files
all contracts made by the Town and serves as secretary
to the Mayor, Alderman and City Manager.

City Attorney

The
City Attorney prepares all ordinances and most resolutions
for the Town elected officials to approve. The City
Attorney attends each Board of Alderman meeting and
advises them, as requested, on matters of procedure
and on matters that are being discussed. The City Attorney
handles legal matters for the Town, either alone or
with attorneys assigned by The Texas Municipal League
Insurance Group. The City Attorney also assists the
Town Departments with legal issues.

Executive Director, Convention
and Visitors Bureau

The
South Padre Island Convention and Visitors Bureau is
the marketing arm of the Town. The CVB has four divisions: The
Convention Centre, located at 7355 Padre Boulevard,
is a tropical facility for meetings, events, concerts
and much more. The Laguna Madre Nature Trail is also
located by the Convention Centre. Events
Marketing deals with many exciting activities from Spring
Break to Sandcastle Days, kite festivals and much more. Sales
and Marketing entails advertising, public relations
and group sales/services efforts. We can help make your
South Padre Island gathering a success. The
Visitors Center, located at 600 Padre Boulevard, serves
the needs of our visitors seven days a week. Stop by

The
Finance Department is primarily responsible for the
central processing of all financial related data and
information for the Town. The activities necessary to
perform this function are as follows: processing of
accounts payable documents, accounts receivable invoices,
purchase orders and payroll; maintenance of the general
ledger; preparation of reports and documents, such as
the annual budget, comprehensive annual financial report
and other interim financial reports; and responsibility
for cash management and depository functions for the
Town's cash and investments.

South Padre Island Police Department mission is to provide
protection and service to the community. Major goals
of the Department are to reduce crime through prevention,
detection, and apprehension; provide for the orderly
and safe movement of vehicular traffic through traffic
law enforcement, accident prevention and accident investigation;
and ensure public safety through regulation and control
of hazardous conditions; the recovery and return of
lost and stolen property; and to provide non-enforcement
services through programs reflecting community needs
and desires.

primary goal of the Public Works Building Maintenance
Division is to provide efficient and expedient building
and grounds maintenance for city hall, police department,
fire department, public works and the training center.
The
primary goal of the Public Works Inspections Division
is to safeguard the public through efficient, timely
and effective administration of the Town's codes and
ordinances for building and remodeling structures on
the Island.
The
primary goal of the Public Works Parks Division is to
provide service to the community, including effective
and expedient maintenance of public right-of-ways, beaches,
bay/beach accesses, parks, streets, drainage, landscapes
and buildings.
The primary goals of the Public Works Health/Code
Enforcement Division are to service the public by assuring
compliance with local ordinances; respond to calls for
service (food establishments, solid waste, and other health or quality of life regulations);
enforce local ordinances or state law regarding health
issues; and to prevent and detect ordinance violations.>

The
Executive Services Coordinator/Customer Relations
Manager provides administrative support to the City
Manager, Mayor, and Board of Aldermen.
Responsibility includes
oversight of operations for the City Manager’s
office, staff, and maintains the Customer Relations
database via the Towns website.
The Coordinator also
addresses and resolves concerns posed by citizens,
visitors, elected and appointed officials though
coordination of resources, Departments, and staff.
The
Public Information Official is
responsible for the
planning and implementation of the public and media
relations strategies for the Town of South Padre
Island. The position is also responsible for
the public information activities in support of the
Board of Alderman, City Manager's Office and Town
departments to create and maintain a favorable
public image for the Town of South Padre Island.
