CONCESSIONAIRE (part time)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 GENERAL PURPOSE

 The Concessionaire will be responsible for working at the concession stand, which includes receiving monies for purchases, giving correct change, preparing food products, storing food products, displaying food products, serving food products to patrons and cleaning work stations.

 SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

 Works under the close supervision the Special Events Coordinator.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

 None.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Responsible for preparing meals associated with breakfasts, lunches, diners, receptions and concession items. 

 Insures that ordered food is received and stored properly.

 Assists in conducting inventory of all food items.

 Must always be familiar with items on the catering or concession menu.

 Responsible for aesthetically pleasing food trays displays at receptions and for attractively garnished plated meals.

 May run cash register during concessions. Handle money accurately and properly.

 Must be appealing and pleasant to the public at all times.

 Maintains health standards of work area and kitchen according to the Town of South Padre Island Health/Code Department.

 Must keep concession area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner at all times.

 Must secure concession area at the end of the day, including all storage areas.

 Must balance cash register at the end of the shift and report any discrepancies to the attention of the supervisor.

 DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 Education and Experience:

 (A) Must be able to communicate effectively.

(B) Must be able to work in a fast pace and afford quick service.

(C) GED or High School Diploma is preferred.

       Necessary knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 (A) Must be able to correctly operate a cash register and calculator.

(B) Must demonstrate full knowledge of food service operation.

(D) Knowledge of proper garnishments and able to follow recipes.  Working knowledge of    kitchen equipment such as meat slicers, grills, tilt skillets and warmers.

(D) Must be able to understand and follow written and oral directives.  Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

        SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

 (A) Must be willing to work after hours, weekends and holidays. 

(B) Must have the ability to become TABC certified if requested by   

      the Town.

       TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

        Standard concession equipment and cash register and calculator.

       PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is performed mostly in field settings.  Considerable outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land uses and other matters.  Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of kitchen/concession equipment.

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be standing; walking; talking or hearing; using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.  The employee occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work is performed usually in a concession area that involves extended periods of standing, and moving about.  Schedule consist of working week days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Work environment is usually moderately noisy.
