Island will be held Saturday, May 10 from 7a.m. -
7p.m. on the second floor of the Municipal Complex located at
4601 Padre Blvd.

candidates running for office as well as the community that
POLITICAL SIGNS are not allowed in the
public right-of-way
per the Town’s Code of Ordinances. Your

Second Access Project - 2008 |

Notice
of Public Scoping Meeting
On Thursday, May 22,
2008 the Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority, in
cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT),
will conduct a public scoping meeting for the proposed South
Padre Island Second Access Project.
Cameron County has formed a
Regional Mobility Authority to study a second causeway to the
Island.

Position Statement, supporting the need for a
second causeway. To show your support, fill
out the
Support Petition and submit it directly to the
EDC. You may cast a single vote of support
using this on-line
support form.

The Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee recently completed the public hearing
process and you are encouraged to submit your comments at

Town Services Survey
The Town is interested in determining how you
feel about life on South Padre Island
and the services provided by our Town government. This survey
will assist us in our efforts to continue to improve our quality
of service.

As
part of the Town of South Padre Island’s
Unlitter Campaign, we have developed a program
called GIMME FIVE. If a resident or visitor
is seen unlittering on South
Padre Island by any code enforcement
officer, a five dollar cash incentive will be given
to that person in a certificate form and may be
redeemed at Town Hall,
4601 Padre Blvd.

Glass prohibited on beach

According to the Code of Ordinances,
“No glass material or glass containers of any type, size, shape,
or description may be taken upon, placed, used, or deposited in
any manner, within the public beaches contained within the Town
limits.”

The
WAVE, South Padre Island's free transportation system, maintains
regularly scheduled routes that run from the Island to Port Isabel.
Please note -- The
WAVE will no longer stop at the Shell Harbor Center.
WAVE buses are equipped with wheelchair
lifts. Those persons needing additional information
regarding ADA
accessibility of the buses, and/or individual eligibility for ADA paratransit services can call Public Works
at 761-3245.

The Wave connects to the Rio Transit Shuttle
in Port Isabel near Church's Chicken in the Las Palmas Shopping
Center at the intersection of Hwys 48 & 100. Our
service allows travelers to move seamlessly between South Padre Island
and the many stops around Brownsville provided by the Brownsville Urban
System (BUS) including the airport.
